Spend a lovely day on the shores of the Baltic Sea away from the hustle and bustle of the Finnish capital Helsinki!
We will provide a private day with a meal tour to Porkkala peninsula area. Porkkala was "rented" to Soviet Union after WW2 to build a naval base. Nowadays it is a wonderful nature protection area to visit all around the year, to enjoy sea shore views and watch migrating birds in the springtime and autumn. Our tour includes transportation.and outdoor meal.
At your hotel
Meet at your hotel and start the transport to Porkkala peninsula. Drive time 1 hour.
Arrival to the Porkkala Peninsula parking area. Start of the walking tour to the seashore. Distance to walk during the day approximately 6 kilometers. We will discover the nature, hear stories of the ice age, Soviet rental time, current usage and future plans of the area - probably this will be the next National Park in Finland.
Outdoor meal provided by local chef Pete: We can choose from 2 different delicious outdoor meals, either 2 course or 3 course meal. Both contain dessert and coffee provide on open fire.

We will stay outdoors the whole day. Weather in Finland can be cold, more cold or horribly cold during winter, but during springtime and summer mild or even warm. Rain and wind may make you feel cold - so please prepare your clothing so that you can add or remove layers during the day.
Porkkala Peninsula has no roads, and we will walk on paths and cliffs, so good quality shoes are essential. Rain is also possible!
Timo is knowledgeable, flexible and clearly enjoys being a guide. I told him the things we wanted to do and he customized the day, adding in highlights about Finland I didn’t know about. He is a native Fin and knows a lot about nature as well as the history of Finland. You can’t go wrong with Timo!
Thank you for being my customer, I really enjoyed being your guide!
We went with Mr Timo for our tour of Suomenlinna Fortress on the 25th of December. We had our seven-year-old boy with us on tour. Our meeting made it very apparent that Mr Timo belongs to Helsinki and knows the city properly. He knew a great deal of history and geopolitics. He kept the tour lively, with just enough history and a good deal of Finnish culture. Conversation with him was relevant and we never got bored. I strongly recommend him as anyone's tour guide.
