I arrange a private tea ceremony for you. There are some tea houses in Tokyo, and I try to arrange it in the convenient place for you.
I hope my guests would enjoy relaxing time to have some tea and sweets sitting in the tea house.

I organize an intimate and authentic tea ceremony for you.
There are a number of tea houses in Tokyo, and most of them are inside of modern buildings or hotels.
But tea ceremony starts from the moment when visitors arrive at the tea house, then pass the entrance gate, walk on stone steps of Japanese garden.... each procedure is important essence to be free from daily stresses or clattered thoughts.
So I will choose a tea house of traditional style according to the location of your hotel. We meet at the nearest railway/metro station from the tea house which will be informed afterward. Therefore, first, please let me know which day and time you would like to be invited to the ceremony. If you could give me several choices of time, for example (morning time of 12th December, afternoon of 14th, or evening of 15th), more likely to be able to organize ceremony for you.
The ceremony is carried out with following order:
At first there is 5-10 minutes explanation of "Way of Tea", and then I prepare tea for you. A small Japanese sweet of the season is served together with tea. If visitor has any allergy to certain food, such as egg or wheat flour, please let me know it beforehand.
After having a cup of tea, try making tea with bamboo whisk by yourself. Duration: approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Visitors are supposed to sit on tatami mat floor, but not have to sit on own knees as Japanese people do. Tight jeans or short skirt are not comfortable. Wearing white socks on tatami mat is appreciated.
Ideal for small group (of several persons), but a couple is welcomed, too. Maximum number of participants: 6
Before reservation, please contact me and let me know of your desired date, because I have to make sure if tea house is available or not. I have to check my own availability, too.
guide fee, tea house fee, tea and sweet
transportation fee
The Time and Date is determined according to availability of tea houses
It may not always possible to arrange a tea ceremony during busy seasons (such as cherry blossom season in Spring and Autumn season).
You don't have to worry too much about your clothes, but better to avoid tight jeans which blocks blood circulation and too short skirts as you are supposed to sit on tatami mat. Please bring a pair of white socks in order not to step on tatami mat with bare foot.
This was my first visit to Japan, and therefore very much needed a guided tour that covered some historical/cultural highlights, offered sufficient flexibility to accommodate my preferences, and did so effectively in English. Saori surpassed my expectations on all counts. I have no doubt that was in large part because, having lived in the U.S. and Europe for a substantial number of years, she has the perfect skill set to serve as a “bridge” between such differing cultures. I couldn’t recommend Saori more highly and enthusiastically. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Dear Gabriel, Thank you very much for the generous comment that made me happy. I hope you are enjoying our early Summer season with beautiful hydrangea flowers. I sent a message to your mobile phone number, so please check it, too. with best regards, Saori
She was great to work with. Very helpful with the language and how to get around. She was very kind.
Saori showed me how to use the train as well as helped me with directions! She took me to an authentic tempura restaurant and it was the best I've ever had. She was the nicest person and so grateful for her help !
We booked a day visit of Tokyo highlights with Saori for our group of 6 friends. Saori customized the tour to completely suit our wishes. She met us at our hotel lobby and took us under wings to navigate through the complex metro network. We had so much fun learning about Japanese culture and traditions. She’s very knowledgeable and having lived overseas for many years she could explain things in ways that would make sense to us. We would definitely recommend her to our friends and family.
